Side effects of TAFINLAR + MEKINIST

As with many medications, you may experience some side effects while taking TAFINLAR® (dabrafenib) capsules + MEKINIST® (trametinib) tablets in combination. Below are possible side effects of treatment.

Taking TAFINLAR + MEKINIST may cause serious side effects, including:

  • New skin cancers, including cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma, keratoacanthoma, basal cell carcinoma, or melanoma
  • Bleeding problems
  • Inflammation of the intestines or tears (perforation) of the stomach or intestines
  • Blood clots
  • Heart problems, including heart failure
  • Eye problems
  • Lung or breathing problems
  • Fever
  • Serious skin reactions
  • Increased blood sugar (hyperglycemia)
  • New or worsening high blood pressure (hypertension)
  • Healthy red blood cells to break down too early in people with glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase deficiency
  • Fertility problems
  • Low sperm counts

Common side effects in people with NSCLC include:

  • Fever
  • Fatigue
  • Nausea
  • Vomiting
  • Diarrhea
  • Dry skin
  • Decreased appetite
  • Rash
  • Swelling of the face, arms, and legs
  • Chills
  • Bleeding
  • Cough
  • Shortness of breath

Talk to your health care provider about your side effects. These are not all the side effects of TAFINLAR + MEKINIST. Be sure to tell your health care provider about how you’re feeling or if you have any concerns about your treatment, especially if you think you’re experiencing any treatment side effect. Consult your health care provider to develop an appropriate plan. Your health care provider may temporarily interrupt or reduce your dose of TAFINLAR + MEKINIST.
