Diagnosis

BRAF+ Advanced Melanoma

Once you are diagnosed with advanced melanoma, you and your health care provider can learn if your melanoma is BRAF+ (also written as BRAF-positive). Having BRAF+ melanoma means you are eligible for targeted treatment (treatment that precisely identifies and attacks certain cancer cells) options, such as TAFINLAR® (dabrafenib) capsules + MEKINIST® (trametinib) tablets. To determine your BRAF status, health care providers will have to take a closer look at your melanoma’s DNA.

BRAF mutations

The most common types of BRAF mutations are called BRAF V600E and V600K. About 50% of patients with advanced melanoma have one of these mutations.

BRAF testing

Once you know you have BRAF+ melanoma, you may be eligible for certain targeted melanoma treatments such as TAFINLAR + MEKINIST.
